Within Amazon’s Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A), we enjoy a unique vantage point into everything happening within Amazon. As part of that, our team designs, builds & maintains an integrated planning & reporting platform that enables hundreds of finance representatives across the globe.
In addition to requiring a high level of technical expertise within Planning Analytics-TM1 this role is about understanding the needs of the business, the data behind it, and how to transform this information into technical solutions that allow the business to make swift, informed decisions. Ideal candidates will have expertise in all phases of the software development life cycle in managing a team to build models that scale over time while balancing accuracy, flexibility and speed.
This role is ideally suited for an experienced Planning Analytics – TM1 developer interested in building solutions that span Planning Analytics, TMPy, Python, data engineering leveraging Apache Spark along with the Native AWS tool stack.
This role will be specifically focused on cross-team and cross-functional collaboration to develop the standard platform for corporate headcount and related expense planning across all of Amazon. You will a key contributor to our application architecture and forward-looking strategy.
The data flowing through our platform directly contributes to decision-making by our CFO and all levels of finance leadership. Key job responsibilities
- Deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient solutions by managing all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, modeling & design, development, testing, deployment, integration, and documentation.
- Partner with peer Finance teams utilizing to ensure consistent design & integration.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that accelerate cycle times, alleviate cumbersome manual processes, and ensure financial results are accurate.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to drive innovation.
- Support dimension management, metadata design/maintenance, and data validation processes.
- Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources.
- Diagnose and resolve operational issues, perform detailed root cause analysis, respond to suggestions for enhancements, and create detailed recommendations for solutions to problems
- Rotational on-call availability for critical systems support

GFT team is a cross functional engineering team within Corp FP&A. We build services to help enable Finance teams to access information quickly and make decisions that impact Amazon. You will be interacting with application engineers, software development engineers, data engineers, product managers, and UX designers to understand the key requirements, lead the design and development of software services. Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant finance or financial systems experience in developing end-to-end analytics solutions, including system configuration, model building, data security, and reporting.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Economics or other closely related fields.
- Demonstrated history of managing cross-functional projects, problem solving, financial acumen, and business partnering skills
- Relevant corporate finance experience exhibiting knowledge of financial planning functions and related processes.
- Quick learner with a positive attitude, professional demeanor, and strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

- 6+ years of relevant IBM Cognos TM1/Planning Analytics experience spanning system configuration, model building and developing reports or dashboards with TM1
- TM1 technical skills: Rules and TI coding, security setup, report development, ongoing maintenance of existing models
- soft skills: gathering requirements for new projects, providing user training
- Experience with writing SQL queries and stored procedures
- Experience with data modelling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
- Corporate finance experience exhibiting knowledge of financial planning, budgeting and forecasting functions and processes
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or Masters in a related field.
- Ability to work independently and self-motivate in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
- Experience architecting business solutions that leverage the right technology
- Experience advocating and proliferating best practices in reporting and analysis, including data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
- Direct experience using Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tools, preferably Cognos v10x (Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Workspace, Framework Manager), or similar technology (OBIEE, BusinessObjects, Tableau, MicroStrategy, SAP, etc.).
- Experience with dimension management software processes and MDM tools (Oracle DRM) - Advanced knowledge of SQL, Oracle, OLAP, and data warehousing concepts.
- Familiarity and development experience with web services technologies is a strong plus (e.g. HTTPS, REST, XML, JSON, etc.).
- JAVA/PERL/Ruby/Python scripting language experience.
- Experience with third-party ETL tools (IBM DataStage or Data Manager, Informatica, etc.).
- Familiarity with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, Redshift, and Aurora.
