Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Copy Editor to support our content editing needs in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and attention to detail. You will work with the Content Marketing team to ensure that all of our articles are consistent, cohesive, and free of grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors.

This is a remote position. We do not offer visa sponsorship or assistance. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US at the time of hire. Resumes and communication must be submitted in English.

Responsibilities:

_ - The Copy Editor will be responsible for working within our content management system, and with our writers and editors to copy edit, provide constructive feedback, proofread, and publish world-class articles for our elite audiences. The Copy Editor will also be responsible for maintaining in-house style guidelines and will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and Executive Editor to develop the appropriate writing resources for our Content Marketing team.

In the first week, expect to:

  • Onboard to the Content Marketing team by working closely with the suite of resources available to you.

In the first month, expect to:

  • Work with all members of the Content Marketing team to understand each aspect of the content being published.
  • Gain an understanding of the content management system and the processes involved in copy editing articles.
  • Work with the Editorial team to understand various project workflows and copy edit Content Marketing output.
  • Provide detailed feedback on each content piece.

In the first three months, expect to:

  • Learn our house style inside and out.
  • Exercising discretion and independent judgment, being a trusted partner and resource to team members.
  • Stay abreast of style developments and changes and provide intelligence to our team when questions of grammar and style arise.

In the first six months, expect to:

  • Help the writers and editors continually improve their ability to publish high-quality content for an elite audience.
  • Establish a rapid cadence for your work without sacrificing quality or attention to detail.

In the first year, expect to:

  • Support the Content Marketing team, consistently working to improve the quality and impact of our content through suggestions, education, attention to detail, and workflow improvements.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional copy editing experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Mastery of spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and the ability to make constructive suggestions.
  • A thorough understanding of AP Stylebook and proficiency in applying the principles of AP style to different types of writing.
  • Thorough knowledge of content production and communication.
  • Ability to work within a content management system.
  • Ability to remain detailed-oriented and focused when processing large amounts of text.
  • Willingness to collaborate with a creative team of writers, editors, and illustrators.
  • Willingness to give constructive feedback with clear explanation.
  • Ability to perform at the highest level in a fast-paced company.
  • Meticulous focus on execution, detail, and quality.
  • Self-starter with the ability to define strategy and execute with limited guidance.
  • Willingness to participate in special projects related to copy editing and proofreading.

US FLSA Classification: Full-Time/Exempt

_The US-based salary range for this full-time position is $60,000 - $90,000 per year. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
