About the Opportunity

Digital Management, LLC (DMI) is seeking a full time z/OS Print Systems Programmer as part of the Enterprise Mainframe System Services for a government agency in the DC Metropolitan Area and customers across the United States.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Installing, customizing, and maintaining the Data Center's suite of print distribution software. In addition, z/OS Print Server System Programmer is responsible for enabling various methods of application printing that are essential tothe agency's principal lines of business users.
  • Planning, installing, customizing, and implementing print distribution software, implementing system automation in support of remote printing, Associated Printing for 3270 applications, printing from CICS using dynamic support system, printing for SNA and IP devices, print distribution software that archives print reports, and printing under z/OS JES2.
  • Planning and assisting users in their printing needs.
  • Planning, configuring, customizing, and implementing printers that use either LPR/LPD protocol, IPP protocol, or direct socket printing, printing for local and remote printers, software products, and Telnet changes in support of user's printing needs.
  • Providing technical assistance to developers in the design and implementation of custom forms,and production control and operations on enterprise printing.
  • Analyzing requirements and recommending software and hardware printing solutions.
  • Performing problem determination and resolution using z/OS Tool and Service Aids.
  • Assisting PMOs in implementing form based printing.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Five (5) years of demonstrated experience (within the last seven years) as a z/OS System Programmer providing expertise in z/OS V1.9 or above.
  • Five (5) years of recent experience supporting desktop and remote printing with Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc (LRS) VPS (VTAM Printer Support).
  • Five (5) years recent experience configuring LRS/VPS and Dynamic Report System (DRS) in support of CICS desktop and remote printing.
  • Five (5) years of recent experience configuring z/OS Communication Server Telnet Server in support of desktop and remote printing.
  • Five (5) years of recent experience configuring JES2 in support of desktop and remote printing.
  • Five (5) years of recent experience upgrading software products such as LRS/VPS.
  • Five (5) years of recent experience working with a report distribution software like BMC Control‐D.
  • Five (5) years of recent experience supporting printing with SNA and IP based applications.
  • Five (5) years of recent experience supporting Telnet protocol.
  • Three (3) years of recent experience providing Level 2 and Level 3 support for help desk tickets related to Print Programmer support
  • Strong communications and customer service skills
  • Availability to work on-call 3 - 5 times a year as required to support the program
  • Interest and ability to expand skillset into communications and security protocols
  • Must be willing to provide back up support to team members as needed



Skills and education required:

The following education and skills are either required or desirable in a candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related degree
  • Must have at least 10+ years of experience working with printer systems such as LRS/VPS, DRS and related systesms.
  • Must be able to demonstrate and articulate in-depth knowledge of printer computer functions.
  • Must have both analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to troubleshoot any computer problems that could arise.
  • Time management skills are essential as you need to ensure all request, ServiceNow tickets and queries are completed on time.
