Traveling Combo Welder (remote) Id-1967

Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. is a leading custom design-build contractor specializing in industrial refrigeration systems. We handle design, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and service all in-house. We are currently seeking an experienced combo welder for a nationwide traveling role. This individual will perform weld preparation, welding, and finishing operations according to customer drawings, specifications, or other instructions. Significant opportunities for advancement are available. This combo welder position requires extensive travel.

Expected Pay: $35+/hr
Experience Required: 5+ Years
Per Diem: $65/night (double occupancy)
Lodging: Fully Paid
Travel: Fully Paid

Key Responsibilities:

  • Weld pipe ranging from 3/4" to 18" (most pipe welding is on 2" to 6" pipe)
  • Perform pipe welding on critical components such as compressors, vessels, evaporators, oil separators, condensers, and other pre-fab elements
  • Cutting, beveling, and fitting pipe; extensive pipe fitting is expected in this combo welder role
  • Independently set up and position piping for welding operations
  • Complete open root welding (no insert)
  • Weld up to 50 diameter inches per day
  • Assist jobsite teams with insulation, electrical, and painting as needed
  • Perform load rigging, torch cutting, leveling, and use of measurement tools
  • Operate grinders and wire wheels
  • Other duties as required on the job site

Requirements:

  • Must pass a 6G weld test prior to employment (tested on 2" schedule 80 steel stick 60/10 root, 70/18 cap)
  • Extensive travel required (typical tour: 10 days from Tuesday of the 1st week to Thursday of the 2nd week, working 10-12 hour days)
  • Valid driver’s license required; ability to drive up to 10 hours and operate industrial lifts
  • Experience in high-pressure pipe, steam line, gas line, process pipe welding, or similar relevant pipe work is essential for this combo welder position
  • Pre-employment drug screening, criminal background check, and driving record check required (candidates with a DUI in the last 5 years are not eligible)
  • This is a safety-sensitive position requiring ongoing drug testing
