Position: Freelance Reporter & Writer (CMO Lists)
We are seeking an experienced reporter and writer to contribute to the development of our Forbes CMO List editorial package. This role involves creating high-quality content and supporting a dedicated editorial team in producing standout reporting on top marketing executives.

Responsibilities
As a Freelance Reporter & Writer, you will:

  • Write Profiles and Blurbs: Craft sharp, engaging 400–600-word bios/blurbs for the CMOs featured on our lists, capturing why they stand out. (See past examples: Forbes World’s Most Influential CMOs List 2024).
  • Fact-Check Submissions: Ensure the accuracy of bios and nominee submissions.
  • Feature Writing: Produce two 1,000–1,200-word features on honorees, as assigned by Forbes editors. This will include interviewing and reporting on high-level business leaders. (Reference: Forbes Entrepreneurial CMO 50 List).
  • Draft and Submit in Stages: Deliver drafts, rewrites, and finalized materials in organized tranches.
  • Update Legacy Content: Revise and update CMO Hall of Fame bios and blurbs.
  • Social Media Prep: Write and prepare social media posts for 10 honorees per list to drive audience engagement.

Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone with:

  • Expertise: Proven understanding of marketing, business trends, and C-suite dynamics.
  • Exceptional Writing Skills: Ability to produce polished, compelling, and clear content.
  • Reporting Acumen: Comfort with interviewing high-profile sources and distilling insights.
  • Research & Accuracy: A meticulous approach to fact-checking and data verification.
  • Organizational Excellence: Strong time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to contribute wherever needed.

Compensation
This is a freelance role with an hourly rate of $25.00 to $45.00, depending on experience and qualifications. Forbes determines compensation based on various factors, including education, experience, skills, and internal pay rates.
