  • Making clinical decisions: Diagnosing acute medical issues, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and initiating necessary interventions based on patient needs.
  • Collaborating with nursing staff: Providing guidance and support to nursing staff on managing urgent patient situations, including medication administration and symptom management.
  • Communicating with primary care providers: Updating primary care physicians on urgent patient issues, coordinating care plans, and seeking consultation when necessary.
  • Documenting patient encounters: Thoroughly documenting all assessments, interventions, and communications in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license: Current and active license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of employment.
  • Experience in geriatrics: Prior experience working with geriatric patients in a nursing home setting is highly preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment: Ability to quickly assess patient conditions and make appropriate clinical decisions in urgent situations.
  • Excellent communication skills: Clear and effective communication with nursing staff, patients, and family members.
  • Availability for on-call shifts: Commitment to being available outside of regular business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
