Overview As the first Principal Content Designer on the Design team at Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Fantasy, you will establish and lead the content design practice, setting the vision, strategy, and operational framework for content design. Your role will be pivotal in shaping how we communicate with our users across products, driving clarity, and consistency. This is a unique opportunity to build and evangelize the content design discipline from the ground up, ensuring that it becomes a core component of the product design process. Key Responsibilities Strategy & Leadership

Define and implement content strategies that align with product and user goals. Establish and maintain content design best practices, guidelines, and standards to ensure consistency and quality across all product touchpoints. Evangelize the importance of content design throughout the organization, educating teams on its value in driving user engagement and satisfaction. Collaborate with leadership to integrate content design into the broader design and product development process. Content Creation & Optimization

Craft clear, concise, and engaging UX copy for mobile and desktop product experiences. Conduct content audits and optimize existing content to enhance usability, engagement, and conversion rates. Ensure all content adheres to usability and accessibility standards. Contribute to the evolution of content systems, including style guides, voice/tone guidelines, and content frameworks. Collaboration & Research

Partner with designers, product managers, and engineers to create user-centered content that aligns with product goals and user needs. Leverage data insights to inform content decisions and continuously improve user experiences. Mentorship & Development

Guide team members and cross-functional partners in adopting UX writing best practices. Mentor designers on content design principles and techniques. Lead workshops and training sessions to build content design expertise within the organization. Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Library Science, or a related field. Experience: 7+ years in UX writing, content design, editorial, or related roles; experience in leading and scaling content design practices is a strong plus. Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies. Proven ability to create clear, concise, and engaging content for diverse audiences. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional teams. Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently. Strong problem-solving skills and a strategic, creative mindset.
