The Honolulu Board of Water Supply is looking for two (2) goal-oriented and driven individuals to become a vital part of their Collection and Credit team as a Field Collection Representative I. Join us to resolve challenges, build trust, and deliver exceptional service. Duties and responsibilities of a Field Collection Representative I include but are not limited to: Contacting delinquent customers to collect overdue payments, explaining water service rules, setting up payment plans when needed, managing case information for billing and follow-up, and sending out applicable notices/letters as needed; Reaching out to new occupants using unauthorized water, explaining service rules, establishing new accounts, and addressing tampered meters while coordinating with authorities and managing case information for billing; Closing water meters due to non-payment or unauthorized use, removing excess dirt or cutting roots as needed, and inputting work orders for BWS to prevent further tampering and illegal water use; Operating a computer to complete assignments, preparing and maintaining daily reports on contacts, payments, and work progress, and inputting meter readings for billing and verification purposes; Tracing, locating, and collecting from debtors or former service holders with outstanding bills, following legally accepted collection procedures and referencing office records; and Operating a motor vehicle, driving up to 100 miles daily, and maintaining the care and condition of the assigned vehicle.

Minimum Qualification Requirements At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Two years of general office experience, one of which shall have been involved in public contact work. Preferred Experience: Knowledge in collection and credit processes. Substitution: Business school or college-level credits from a regionally-accredited college/university will substitute for experience on a month-for-month basis for up to one year of the general office experience.

There is no substitution for the one year of general office experience which must have involved public contact work. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided.
